Learning by Teaching with Videos. Increasing media and language didactical competences along the teacher training chain.
“Lehren und Lernen mit Videos” “Teaching and Learning with Videos” is a product-oriented learning-by-teaching project that allows students in teacher training (Lehramtsstudierende) to create video lessons and test them in real class environment with school children. “Teaching and Learning with Videos” further offers working materials and activities adapted for tablet use in order to allow school children to work with peers or alone.
In the beginning of the project students are asked to observe a language class in a secondary education school (from 5th to 11th grade) and analyses its didactical needs. During their seminar, the students work in cooperation with the class teacher and produce teaching materials. After testing their produced materials, the students receive feedback from the class teacher and other teaching staff members. Videos and working materials are produced as OER (Open Education Resources) and will eventually be shared on the repository of Baden-Württemberg Universities https://www.oerbw.de.
