It is internationally recognized as the “University of Spanish”. Its courses in Spanish as a second language began in 1929. In 2010, the University of Salamanca was awarded the status of Campus of International Excellence in Spanish.
It is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It offers a wide range of language learning opportunities through the School of Literature and Languages and two Language Resource Centres.
It has extensive experience in teaching German as a foreign language. In addition, it hosts the Heidelberg Centre for Digital Humanities and the Institute of Computational Linguistics as well as several language and technology centres, which provide their “know how” in the application of new technologies to the teaching of foreign languages.
It is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. In charge of the project is the Classical Philology and Italian Studies Department, which takes on innovation in methods and techniques for the teaching of Italian as a foreign language.
It has 25 schools and more than 250,000 students. The School of Arts is comprised by 10 language departments. Cairo University has long experience in Distance Learning through its Open University.
